I'm certainly no expert but the good carbs are generally those that are found in whole grains and in furit and veggies while the bad carbs are foods that have been highly processed and the fiber has been removed.

Am sure you'll get better and more practical answers from others.

I wonder if Grace, Kevy and tigger met their goals. I always feel like ancient threads like this are little gravestones.

Good carbs are anything that has not been refined: brown rice, 100% whole grain breads, cereals, etc., vegetables, fruit (whole fruit is better that juice in most instances). Stay away from anything that says, "enriched." It means the good stuff has been stripped away and vitamins and minerals have been replaced. They don't replace things like phytonutrients, etc..

A fun thing to do is go to the last page of the forums to see the old threads.

They are all exactly the same as the new threads Smile You know, the usual:
"Should I Eat Carbs?"
"How Do I Add Buddies?"
"Let's Talk Constipation"
"Hi! I'm New!"

Etc

(lol)

Last week I looked at the oldest threads and it made me laugh too because they could have been started yesterday. The more things change, the more they stay the same. They should take the top ten issues and make them sticky.

The number would be "I've been following my diet for the last 2 days and gained .2 pounds! What am I doing wrong?".

I guess I'll need to go look at some old posts. I too wish I knew if they ever reached their goals. It would kinda be nice to know. I guess here and now I'll say that when I reach my goal I'll stick around to help inspire other people. Besides, blue is such a pretty color!

Then we could respond to everything people ask with "Read the stickies!" lol! I've always been of the opinion that people come to forums because they want to have a conversation where they ask the question and others answer, regardless of whether the question has been answered before. Otherwise, why not just google it?

BUT if there were a top ten questions thread, what would they be?

1. I followed my diet perfectly for 1 day and gained weight- WHY?
2. How often should I weigh myself?
3. What is the right percentage of fat/carbs/protein?
4. How many calories a day should I eat?
5. I am constipated, what should I do?
6. I stopped losing weight, why?
7. I started exercising and gained, why?
8. What do the colors mean on the weight loss ticker?
9. How do I post a picture?
10. Will I have loose skin?

Spot on. I'm also a big fan of the "Ask a question in order to try and impress people" thread. Usually they have the format of:

"I run about 800 miles every day, do dance, yoga, and weight training. Not sure if that's enough, was thinking about adding some rock climbing/boxing/whatever. What does everyone else do to stay fit?"

Not only is that over-training and idiotic (especially when most people here under eat to begin with), but it doesn't really impress anyone that knows how to exercise properly.

Here's an activity you can do: Step into oncoming traffic, you pompous dolt. I hear you will never gain another pound.

I never saw those as trying to impress post...

I seem to look at them as someone who is trying to find the best activity for them...

And they may ask because they are geniunely trying to see if there are other activities that may be a better fit for them!!

We should do a "FS Scavenger Hunt" to find the top 10 oldest constipation threads and revive them!

I especially love the statement that everyone here under-eats!

an00bis, you are spot on. People are doing it to brag, hey if I did all that I would be bragging too. I do brag about how much I can lift (not that much but I feel like for me it's worth bragging about), but do it in your journal.

weigh in
Good luck! I weigh in every day which has to stop. It is too easy to get caught up in the excitement of seeing the scale drop so much in a week-that is because of water weight I am sure.
