If you have yahoo you can read this article. It was posted today.

I drink regular skim milk and silk milk and also smart balance fat free. All depends on taste and how concerned you are about calories, fat, if you need lactose free? One article is not the ultimate answer. There are lots of views.

I use unsweetened almond milk because it has fewer calories and I absolutely hate regular milk. I have a phobia of milk and just don't like it, so the almond works for me. If my kids spill milk at home it is the worst thing for me because I hate to even touch it, it's that gross to me. I've found that I can use the almond milk in baking and in my cereals and it is a good alternative. Can't use it in pudding, but I guess I'll just have to give in to the 1% milk for that. I think it's up to your taste. I agree with Bocalvr drink what works for you.

I've stuck with cow's milk because of the protein content (neither almond or coconut milk has much and I don't like the taste of soy milk). I drink skim or 1% mostly to keep the calories down. I do like the taste of almond and coconut milk, though, and will sometimes use them in my morning latte to cut the calories.

It really all depends on what you are watching. I switched from Cow's milk to almond milk for the less sugar and calories. I get a lot of protein through my diet with other things, so that is not a concern in my nutritional plan.

I drink Whole Milk. It has more calories but it tends to fill me up and studies have shown that women who drink whole milk or eat cheese made with whole milk tend to weigh less. I also have been drinking whole milk my whole like and dont think I could give it up.

I have milk allergies (not lactose intolerance), so if I want to have any kind of milk-like product I use coconut milk.

I can't drink cow's milk so I drink Soymilk-light. It only has 60k, and as weird as it sounds I do like the taste of it.

I drink Nonfat milk. I don't see any reason for the milk alternatives if you're not allergic or sensitive to milk. Moo-juice is a great diet food.

I drink either 1% or 2%. Sometimes I buy whole milk to use in my coffee. I'm not a big fan of the non-cow milk, but found that the most classic Trader Joe's soy milk is actually pretty good. I usually sore one box of it at the back of the fridge, just because of the shelf life and it's pretty good alternative when I run out of the regular milk.

I started using unsweetened almond because it was the lowest in carbs & I eat low carb most of the time. I briefly switched to unsweetened organic soy because it's almost as low in carbs but higher in protein, but I'm not crazy about the taste. I LOVE the taste of the almond, it's very creamy compared to the skim the rest of my family drinks. The almond is wonderful for mixing up my protein shakes. I also have an iced coffee protein shake that I make that is delicious with it (1c almond milk, 1c cold coffee, 1 scoop protein, 1oz sugar free coffee flavoring syrup - I use Kahlua
).
Even on days I'm not eating low carb, I love it on cereal & especially in oatmeal...YUMMMM!
As far as brands, I used to buy Almond Breeze for a long time, then Silk Unsweetened Organic, & lately I've switched to Silk PureAlmond because it's cheaper & I think I like it better anyway.

If I had my way, I'd be drinking whole, unpastuerized milk. But right now I settle for Whole or 2%.

I use either whole milk (that is what I give my kids) or Silk unsweetened almond milk. The latest news up here in Canada is that they are adding milk solids to skim 1%, and 2% milk to make it taste creamier - milks solids are terribly bad for you - thing is they don't have to say that they have added a milk product to milk! I am adjusting to almond milk and use it in my protein shakes - that I can live with. Truth be told I rarely drink milk on it's own.

BTW has anyone noticed that some cartons of chocolate milk now say "chocolate dairy beverage" in stead of Chocolate milk - that was enough to make me stop buying it or to at least buy the competitor that still claims to be milk!

Unsweetened Almond Silk is my favorite. I used to buy Hood Calory Count-down, very few carbs, I think 3 per 8 oz. Have not bought that is a wnile. It tasted like regular milk.
