Any Chance of Fatsecret linking to Fitbit's open API? Your calorie tracker is the best and you would get alot more users, as all the Fit bit users are begging for a better calorie tracker. The Lose it App works with fitbit, but its not nearly as good as fat secret.
Please do this!

Thanks for the suggestion...
FatSecret also has an
open API
which allows other services/apps etc to access all your FatSecret data (with your permission of course) so we suggest that you reach out to them to see if they want to build on top of your profile.

I second that request for FatSecret to integrate with the FitBit API. I really like FatSecrets Android app and web integration. I tried out Loose It and My Fitness Pal to log calories but they just don't do it as well as you do! FatSecret would be down right perfect with this additional compatibility. Not sure who talks to whom (FitBit or FatSecret) but you two would make a winning team!

I agree too...Love FatSecret, but don't want to log stats into several places, would love it if they could team with the FitBit API!!

neither fitbit nor fatsecret are going to just jump into that development, seeing that they are kind of competitors. fitbit also has an api, which would probably be their response if someone on their message board asked for fatsecret integration... Basically some random person with free time would have to write the code to link the 2 together, and pay for the server that handles the requests and pass throughs.

Nope, your wrong, fitbit syncs with Lose it, and endomondo both of which I use and sync. They work great. I just prefer the Fat Secret app over Lose it, as well as food choices, so I would LOVE to have that sync.
The cool part about fitbit syncing back is is adjusts your daily caloric intake based off your steps walked. It's really great.
So, yes Fat secret folks, figure out how to do syncing. Please.

Come on, that's a lame response. Asking your users to do your work, really??
If FatSecret doesn't start the conversation with FitBit, there's a good chance you guys will get left in the dust. Second of all, responding to your users that way will make people not miss you.
But hey, it's your company. Do what you want.

well considering that fitbit charges for their product and service and FS is completely free I find only fair that one should expect more in terms of integration from the paid service.
Personally I use bodymedia and I wish it could use the data from FS foodlog, but since it in not available I just enter it manually on my BM manager and asked them whether they can integrate FS

+1 to this as well
FatSecret has the best database of products and food, way better than Fitbit.
But since I use their tracker and scale it would be nice to have all their data sent to Fatsecret or vice-versa.
Come on guys!

Making the switch to myfitness pal to see how well it integrates with my fitbit. Any updates from the dev team on when and if your going to connect to fitbit?

Fitbit works great with myfitnesspal! The food choices are great also. FS simply has an easier method of inputing food choices, i.e. barcode scanner.

I began with Fat Secret when I began my weight loss journey and later began to experimenter with Lose It! and MyFitnessPal, I would always returned to FS. I learned about Fitbit on MFP and bought one and became an avid user.
Since, I have left Fat Secret and use MyFitnessPal because of the integration with Fitbit. I inquired earlier this year when I got my Fitbit about possible integration and got a nonchalant, blase "get them to do the integration" type response.
I use MyFitnessPal for logging my food, Endomondo for my exercise and Fitbit for my "amped" pedometer. I do not use the Fitbit interface because MFP, Endomondo and Fitbit all play well together.
As an aside, Fitbit also integrates with RunKeeper and Earndit. I will return to FS if they integrate with Fitbit, because like others, I do not desire to log into several different calorie counting apps for my meals.
I miss FS. I still feel it is second only to MFP because it does not integrate. Please reconsider forward progression so I can come back. Thank you for reading.
May the road of your journey be blessed with friends on all sides cheering you on!!

I would love this integration as well. I received a FitBit for Chrsitmas today and they don't have an app for Windows Phone (FS does), not to mention FS's food database is much superior. Please please please look into this integration of apps! I don't have time to enter my food into multiple sites...

I now log my food and exerise on myfitnesspal as it plays well with my fitbit. I still use fatsecret for journaling but got tired off asking them to integrate. So far, i find MFP reaaly easy to use with my iphone and have not been able to stump the barcode scanner. Other than the cost of the fitbit, there is no added cost to use mfp as someone suggested.

Com on, integration shouldn't be that difficult. A lot of people are asking for it and the api is there! Fatsecret please your fantastic product even more powerful and fitbit platform is growing, so imagine the free publicity.

I've been a FatSecret user for a while, but I stopped using it once I got my fitbit.
I currently use myFitnessPal. I'd love to come back to FatSecret, but the integration with both FitBit and my Withings scale are too nice for me to leave myFitnessPal and come back.

I got a fitbit,,,, so awesome,,,, but I will need to switch to another site because fat secret does not support it
I have trailed myfitnesspal and also spark people. The fitbit crosses over the BEST on spark people so that is where I will be... I will miss fat secret

Fitbit has an open API
What do you want to sync? Checkout http://www.syncmetrics.com , we just finished our first sync service for FS with FItbit, Withings and iHealth for weight data. What else would you like to see?

Food selections
I do, but mostly for the barcode scan (which is awesome). I've not noticed any real difference between the two, and end up searching via google half the time.
