Having a little difficulty with things right now, because I just got off the Atkins diet and started following WW. I'm wondering if this is why i'm gaining a little. I feel better eating a small bowl of cheerios and skim milk with blueberries in it rather than fried eggs and sausages all the time for some reason, but I guess my body just has to get used to the "shock" of the new and different kinds of foods. I'm just hoping that if I keep it up and follow WW that my body will catch up and respond and that i'll start to see some results on the scale.

If you're reintroducing carbohydrate into your diet after it's been absent for a long while, some weight gain is basically inevitable - this shouldn't be confused with fat gain, however.

Prolongued low-carb dieting depletes your body's glycogen stores. Carbohydrate replenishes that glycogen, which not only has its own weight, but also carries several water molecules along with it for each molecule of glycogen. This will add up to several pounds - the same several pounds that usually disappear quickly when starting a low-carb diet.

If the weight regain persists for more than a couple weeks, then you may be in a calorie surplus. Otherwise it's not fat, just a number on the scale.
