A place to record measurments?
Cimaen, that would be a great idea! An actual interactive graph of your body outline that would get smaller as you input your new measurements.

A place to record measurments?
You're not stupid, it took me a while to find it. Go to your my fatsecret main page. On the right is a link for your 'signature'. There you can choose the tracker.

Are there low-carb microwave dinners?
hollipop-- I don't know what you view as low carb, but I posted a link yesterday for ConAgra foods where you can search all their products for exactly the criteria you want such as grams of carb, protein, calories etc. You can fine tune it using several choices at the same time as well. ConAgra handles the Banquet, Healthy Choice, and Marie Callenders foods among dozens of brands. I did a search for 'frozen' foods containing less than or equal to 25g of carbs and it gave me 3 meals. If you up the grams to 35, there are over 50 frozen meals to choose from just in those brands. Here is the link again http://www.conagrafoods.com/co... Other companies may have a similar search, if not, they at least do have nutrition information for their products online.

losing the weight
Welcome Punkin01-- you're in the right place! Calories do count. It all boils down to calories in and calories out. It doesn't really matter what makes up those calories (to a degree) going in. As long as more go out you will lose weight. Other items are watched for different reasons. Sodium for a healthy salt intake. Protein for muscle building etc. Carbs for energy. And so on. Different diets cause weight loss at different rates, but after a while they come to the same place. The best diet is no diet. You have to be able to live with your food choices for life. I did Atkins in the mid 70s and lost 50 pounds. But after 6 months it had killed my appetite so much I was existing on shelled Virginia peanuts and diet iced tea. Not so good. Good luck to you, I know you can do it!

food finder online
Wow...I just found a great tool on the ConAgra Foods website (link below). You put in your criteria such as calories, fat, sodium, etc and it searches all their products to find those that fit what you selected. As they handle dozens of different brands, this covers a wide variety of food types. Let me know if you're as excited as I am. http://www.conagrafoods.com/co...

Why can't I lose weight
JPapoleson and others...Help! I did all the calculations and they still leave me scratching my head. My daily deficit averages 2200, my daily intake 1200-1400. Why then does it take me 3-4 weeks to lose 3 pounds? Do I really need to eat approx 1750 a day to lose? That's a lot of food, and hard to keep fats down. As a side note, I was losing 10 pounds a month before I started 'dieting'.

Tracking Body Fat & Lean Tissue
Very true CorsetLady...If I go from say 44.8% to 33.5% in a year, I'd say I made great strides whether it was off by a couple of percentage points or not. It is indeed for the trend rather than accuracy. I just hate bothering the guys at the gym to do a reading.

Before and After, anyone?
OMG I can't believe how great everyone looks! Now I want to get in on the 'fun'. I don't have many full body shots, as I avoid them, but I will try soon for comparison to the final result at goal. First one is about a year ago, weight around 270-275. Second was 2 weeks ago, approx 230. [img]http://i.imgur.com/d1wKw....

Tracking Body Fat & Lean Tissue
Thanks for the warning. I feel pretty good about the accuracy, I was checked at the gym when I started there 6 weeks ago and was about 49% on the hand-held model. Then a week ago I had them do it again and it was 46%. Like you said, use it for direction. If the scale starts giving me weird numbers, I'll know. I can see where my body is half fat!

You're right--I was thinking 6 pounds of bone was pretty light though. Maybe not after all.

weigh in
Good luck! I weigh in every day which has to stop. It is too easy to get caught up in the excitement of seeing the scale drop so much in a week-that is because of water weight I am sure.
